The project

“New eyes for ancient finds” is an interdisciplinary research project based at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology in Florence.

Five young researchers, grant holders with different research projects, compare and collaborate in the study of a particular museum find: a mummy from pre-Columbian Peru that has always aroused the interest of the public and scholars.

The study highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary approaches and methodologies, and the collaboration between different scholars in the study of museum finds. The research was conducted by Saverio Bartolini Lucenti (PalVirt Project assignor), Giulia Dionisio and Tommaso Mori (ANTINT Project grant holder),Chiara Manfriani and Giovanni Gualdani (PREMUDE Project grant holder), with the scientific supervision of Lorenzo Rook (Department of Earth Sciences), Jacopo Moggi (Department of Biology), and Marco Fioravanti (Department of Agriculture, Environment, food, and Forestry).
